Pélicier Forest was planted around 1905 to protect against soil erosion and covers an area of 1,040 hectares. Located 5 kilometres north of the town on the RD5 road, Pélicier Forest is made up of Austrian pine, downy oak, evergreen oak, Aleppo pine, Scots pine and a few cedars. The forest took nearly 40 years to create, with trees planted one at a time over this period.
There are five short and very pleasant family walks within easy access. Looked after by the ONF (the French forestry commission), in the hills above Manosque you will discover many different plant species (thyme, honeysuckle, broom, orchid…), shaded by pine, oak and a few Atlas cedar.
